The six-member Royale Garden Jazz Band plays the traditional jazz of the early 20th century, as well as many popular tunes of the 1920’s & 30’s. They play the upbeat happy music that makes people smile and tap their toes, as well as the slower and more pensive songs from that era. One listener described their music as a cross between a New Orleans Preservation Hall style band and a Las Vegas lounge band.
The RGJB is one of three representative bands of the Covina based Society for the Preservation of Dixieland Jazz and is in great demand all over Southern California for private parties, civic events, graduations, weddings, birthdays, funerals, street fairs, concerts in the park, mardi gras celebrations, chili cook-offs, festivals, as feature band for various jazz clubs, and anyplace people gather to celebrate! The band has fun while playing and is invariably thought of as "the band that shares the joy of the music with the audience."
